Every year during August prepare to witness the most romantic event of the season, an amazing moonlight spectacle at the beach of Kalami. Watch a number of boats decorated with fairy-lights reach the shore to the soothing sounds of Corfian serenades performed by the local choral group “Apollon” accompanied by the music of a violin and guitar; an old tradition also known as “Varkarola”.
Celebrating the name day of St. Helene and Konstantinos on May 21st, Gimari, situated only 1 km away from Kalami, organizes a local festival inviting guests to enjoy some Greek music, local cuisine and fine regional wines.
An unusual festival taking place once again at the village of Gimari is the pie festival on July 16th of every year. Local women prepare a breadth of handmade pies stuffed with cheese, spinach, meat, fish, potatoes, vegetables, chicken and many other surprise fillings welcoming guests to celebrate with local music, regional dances and a feast of lamb, Greek souvlaki, and plenty of local wines.
Celebrating the assumption of the Virgin on August 15th, Kassiopi Festival takes place at the village of Kassiopi only 6 km away from Kalami. The festival is filled with local flavours, regional dances and a great selection of local wines.
